光影筆記本60/Robin Hood Prince of Thieves (1991)

The film on telly the other night gave me a nostalgic vibe, and, well, I recalled that, for years I was so into Robin (the hero) and Kevin (the actor) and Bryan (the singer), and everything about the film, because I thought it was an excellent film, a heroic and romantic theme, a good actor, a great song, and because that was the film we saw in class before going to a theatre production in a park in Lancaster in 1993...

***Next week I'm going to Wales to visit E and her family. E and I met in Lancaster in 1993; can't believe it was so long ago!! A lot seems to have changed, some things remain unchanged. Oh, but fading memory.***

Robin Hood asks Maid Marian a favour: 'it's dangerous but will you do it for your King?' she says 'no' but she says she'd do it for him.

Ignorant of other connotations of the characters, the teenage me thought that scene was a gem, and passionately believed in bravery and love. Such simplicity! O, 'tis folly...

'You know it's true
everything I do
I do it for you'

Oh, really?!

maybe everything is partly real and partly unreal becuase there coexist different layers of realities.
It's not ignorant to believe something, it requires courage.

thanks for the comment. :) but, I don't get why it requires courage to believe something?

I thought you whether believe or not believe something. It just hurts (and gives a sense of collapse and ruin) when you later come to know what you believed is just complete crap.

Currently listening to: Beethoven pianosonata No. 17 in D minor, op. 31-2 'Tempest'

Currently reading: T.S. Eliot _The Waste Land_

i like this film as well, but i always think the leading actress looks like a witch

the song is too... i never like it...或許這是我喜歡陳綺貞的原因,歌曲開頭就算甜蜜,後面也會唱些大回轉的問題,沒有真正的甜蜜(不過我講這個好像沒有說服力,畢竟我最近滿幸福的)

"it demands courage to believe", because, perhaps only in my case, every time I settle my belief in something, I foresee and prepare myself for porpable disillusion (even though I still cannot cope with that disaster very well...)
Perhpas, I am talking more about how one comes to have a certain belief.

anyway, my dear wanchen, i think these days having some beliefs is a sort of blessing, because it shows your soul is not numb...
